The evening of September 9th 2009, Brisbane city council commissioned a group of local artists to draw a huge Chalk art piece in front of the Brisbane Square Library. Headed by BLAC (Brisbane Local Arts Collective)’s Creative Director, David Hooper, a group of 18 or so talented local artists were gathered together to bring this incredible work of art to life.
The Piece was designed to celebrate the 2009 Brisbane Writers festival and a short story specially written for the project lent its self beautifully to art design and shape of the Squares Fixed art features.
Taking around 9 hours to complete, this mammoth 19m diameter piece stunned the mornings traffic as they made their way to work. Organisers were very pleased with how the piece turned out and are looking at more public arts projects in Brisbane’s near future.
If your a Local Brisbane Artist and would like to get involved in future BLAC Projects, join the BLAC Group on Facebook.
