Canon EOS 50D day 3.
On my way home this evening, I decided to take a detour via the Underwood Rd M1 overpass to test out some long exposures on the motorway traffic. I must say Im very impressed with the EOS 50D’s ease of use. Not to mention speed. This thing is so damn quick to respond. Which is good as Im incredibly impatient.
I used ‘LIVE VIEW’ for the first time which allowed for easy set up and framing without having to hold my breath using the viewfinder. Also the tripod was up quite high so as to clear the guard rail, which placed the viewfinder well out of eyes reach.
I had a good play around using ISO 100, 3200 and everything in between, just to see how the 50D handled noise. And although there was a fair amount of grit in the shadows at 3200, its far better then I expected with digital, and totally shits all over the old EOS 300D that we have at work. These images here are all shot at 100 ISO for nice sharp clarity.
Then came the fun arty side of things. I love painting with light and have produced quite a few totally abstract images with my ancient full manual Pentax from years back. Digital as an art tool, makes this so much easier as many test shots help to produce exactly what one envisions in ones mind. As Ive mentioned previously, for me, this is just the beginning of a very interesting new digital world!
Stay Tuned.
