At the recent Planting Festival held at the Woodford folk festival site, I signed up to the Woodfordia Tree Huggers, as an excuse to spend as much time at this wonderful site as possible. And on the 31st of May 2009 I headed off to the site again for my First Tree Huggers weekend.
This is such a relaxing friendly atmosphere. All manner of folk gather here at the end of each month with the same goal in mind. To Maintain the newly planted trees and plants that hit the ground during the last Planting festival. This weekend we banded together to get as many tree guards on the new plants as possible.
This is too much fun to even be considered “Work”. Meeting so many interesting Like minded people form all walks of life here makes these weekends more of a social event, while still contributing to this planet by re-vegetating the woodford Folk Festival site with Australian Native trees. Everyone also banded together to help me out when I got badly bogged, as I rocked up late Saturday evening and took a wrong turn, ending up in very wet muddy grass. Thanks Guys.
Only down side, it was all over before i knew it and after a hearty BBQ lunch on Sunday it was time to head back to Brisbane. But not to worry, Ill be back at the site the next week for the Dreaming Festival, Volunteering with the “Fixology” Maintenance team.
